Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, 4 December 2025 – The three Samedi du partage organisations once again joined forces on 28 and 29 November as part of a solidarity collection. On this occasion, 329 tonnes of food and hygiene products were collected, symbolising the ongoing commitment of citizens in French-speaking Switzerland.
A key response to a very real need
Faced with growing insecurity and persistent economic tensions, many families are struggling to meet their basic needs. In this context, supplying food banks and aid organisations is a crucial issue. The Sharing Saturday collection is therefore a key response to this problem.
An ever-stronger human chain
A total of 329 tonnes of essential foodstuffs were collected thanks to a major collective effort. More specifically, the canton of Fribourg collected 31 tonnes, stable compared to November 2024, while the canton of Vaud collected 93 tonnes (+12%). In Geneva, the harvest is estimated at nearly 205 tonnes, an increase of more than 1%. These results are the fruit of an exceptional mobilisation of the population of French-speaking Switzerland, which has once again committed itself to supporting the most disadvantaged. More than ever, mobilisation remains essential.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the 2,382 volunteers who, equipped with their blue aprons and pink shopping bags, contributed to the success of this solidarity event: 1,352 in Geneva, 790 in the canton of Vaud and 240 in Fribourg. Their presence and motivation were the driving force behind this operation. We would also like to warmly thank our partner retailers and their teams, who welcomed our volunteers with kindness and ensured smooth logistics throughout the collection.
The food collected will be sent to food banks this week to be sorted, stored and finally redistributed to people in need via our partner associations and social services.
The next appointment
The next edition will take place on 8 and 9 May 2026, with the renewed aim of making solidarity a shared reflex.
