Fanny Modena

Fanny Modena is a comic strip author, illustrator and screen printer based in Geneva. Graduate of the ESBDI, her work often explores socially committed themes. She creates a colourful universe where poetic abstraction and reflection mingle, representing emotions and ideas in a pictorial and symbolic way.

Her latest book, Jungle, a comic strip about autism in women, is fully in line with this approach. His very first comic strip, Cocktail, already laid the foundations for his world, addressing younger readers on the theme of difference and acceptance.

Pour vous

This work explores sharing, mutual aid and peace through poetic images. Hands touching symbolise human connection, while a star offered to the moon evokes a selfless gesture. A human pyramid rises towards the stars, illustrating the strength of the collective. Further on, hands release a dove, a sign of harmony and hope. Finally, one person holds out a flower and simply whispers: ‘Pour vous…’, embodying the beauty of the gift.

And what could be better than drawing mountains on a giant apple? The wild nature of this ancestral fruit, the fruit of sharing, hospitality and generosity… I finally took up the challenge with “Cerise”, which ventures into these snowy landscapes, between Earth and Sky.

Located in the Villa Bartholoni, in the heart of the Perle du Lac park, the musée d’histoire des sciences is the only one of its kind in Switzerland. It presents a collection of old scientific instruments from the cabinets of Genevan scientists from the 17th to the 19th centuries. It also offers a range of hands-on experiments, allowing visitors to discover the history of science in an interactive way.
