The collection raised 224.5 tonnes* of essential items, demonstrating a spirit of solidarity that remains as vital as ever at a time when food insecurity is affecting a growing number of households in Switzerland. The organisers of Samedi du partage are delighted with this response and commend the generosity of the people of French-speaking Switzerland.

Collective action at the heart of the scheme

In total, 224.5 tonnes of essential items were collected thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors and the many dedicated volunteers across the country.

In detail, the canton of Fribourg recorded 23 tonnes, whilst the canton of Vaud reached 79.5 tonnes. In Geneva, 123 tonnes were collected. These figures reflect the renewed commitment of the population of French-speaking Switzerland in the face of growing needs.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the 2,053 volunteers, recognisable by their pink aprons and shopping bags, who contributed to the success of this campaign: 1,191 in Geneva, 692 in the canton of Vaud and 170 in Fribourg. Our thanks also go to the donors who showed such generosity during these two days of fundraising, as well as to our partner retailers and their teams for their hospitality and logistical support.

The food collected will be delivered to food banks in the coming days, where it will be sorted and stored, before being distributed over the coming months to people in need via partner organisations.

The next appointment

The next edition of Samedi du partage will take place on 27 and 28 November 2026, with the aim of strengthening this spirit of solidarity across French-speaking Switzerland.

*The volumes shown are estimates made at the time of collection, including virtual shopping bags.
