In 2025, more than 17,000 people a week sought food aid in Geneva, compared with 15,400 the previous year – an increase of over 10%. This increase reflects the growing difficulties faced by many households in coping with ever-rising fixed costs. These findings are taken from the Fondation Partage’s annual report, published today.

In 2025, more than 17,000 people relied on food aid in Geneva. To meet this growing demand, the Partage Foundation stepped up its efforts and adapted its supply and distribution systems. In total, over 3,760 tonnes of food and essential items were distributed throughout the year via more than 50 partner organisations on the ground.

Despite these efforts, demand exceeds available capacity. “ We are doing everything we can to meet the needs of our partners, who are requesting an increase in the volumes of products supplied. Thanks to the many innovations and solutions developed by our teams, we are succeeding in boosting our supply and distribution capacity. However, despite these sustained efforts, we are not yet able to meet all requirements “, emphasises Maud Bonnet, director of the Fondation Partage.

In an effort to bridge this gap, the Foundation is stepping up its food supply efforts through a range of measures: increasing purchases of essential items, recovering unsold stock – particularly through initiatives relating to products past their best-before date – developing new partnerships with corporate donors, and continuing its efforts to make the most of food supplies. Thanks to these initiatives, the Foundation estimates that it has redistributed the equivalent of 7 million meals*.

In order to help prevent situations of vulnerability, the Foundation is strengthening its mission to promote employment. This is based on a comprehensive approach that combines training, the removal of barriers to employment and support towards sustainable reintegration into the labour market, with a particular focus on young people.

The year 2025 also saw a change in the leadership of Partage. In July, Marc Nobs handed over the reins to Maud Bonnet, who now leads our foundation, continuing its work. Furthermore, there will be a change in the presidency in April 2026, with Charles Beer, who has been president since 2019, handing over to Alain Bolle, a member of the Board since 2016, who will take over as president.

Given that needs remain high, the foundation stresses the importance of support from the business community, institutions and civil society to ensure that the canton’s most vulnerable people have access to food aid, at a time when discussions on the implementation of the right to food in Geneva are opening up new avenues for developing this vital scheme.

*based on a portion of 500 grams

    <div class="elementor-element elementor-element-ba43ede elementor-widget
